First edition, first printing, octavo; including a 2pp. A.L.S. on Vivien's violet stationary, a small etching, and two photographs bound-in at front; the first explicitly lesbian translation of Sappho's poetry, with both the original Ancient Greek and French text; prettily bound in three quarter violet morocco over marbled boards, ribbed spine gilt lettered, marbled endpapers; with original blue printed pictorial wrappers preserved and bound in at ends (spine lightly sunned, a touch bumped at corners); 7 1/4 x 4 3/4 in.
